The R2D2 Ex can turn its head, angle its body and even talk in Druid language like the famous original in the Star Wars movies. Like all Homestar Planetariums it projects a high quality image of the milky way onto the ceiling, but there are also four different kinds of projections featuring the Death Star, the Star Destroyer, the Millennium Falcon, and the X-Wing.

The R2D2 Ex also projects five different characters:
Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Princess Leia, C-3PO and Yoda
