Presented at Tokyo’s Design Tide, an international design fair, it received attention for its simplicity and playful use of materials: it looks as though the flowers have been dropped into a tiny pool of water and caught by a frozen ripple.

Flowers in the vase become part of a tiny visual haiku. A poem that ponders the passing of time, especially as the flower in the vase undergoes its natural life-cycle: blossoming, blooming, wilting yet seemingly frozen in time, preserved and fixed by the static ripple.

In 2013 the Floating Ripple went into mass production and is finally available in Japanese design stores.
