Osaka-based Nakajima Jukyudo designs and sells pencil sharpeners, nothing else. And for the longest time they’ve been racking their brains with what to do with those whittled-down pencil stubs that so often get discarded. Here’s what they came up with.
The Tsunago Neverending Pencil Sharpener (￥2,000Prices are approximate only and subject to change.
White Rabbit Express service fee and other costs not included.) brings new life to those otherwise useless stubs. Comprising three different tools, there’s a regular pencil sharpener (regular by Nakajima standards anyway i.e. extremely sharp and super smooth) but the real magic happens with slots #2 and #3. Slot #2 bores a cavity and slot #3 carves a miniature protrusion. Combining the two with a touch of wood glue creates a secure joint and a brand new neverending Franken-pencil.
This is a pre-order item to be dispatched from mid-2015.
